This album is discogged here. A nice surprise from my friend to whom I owe a debt of gratitude for continuing to dig up gems from an earth already exhausted from the ceaseless mining of these lost things from the past, time perhaps to turn to new technologies like fracking.
In fact, this agglomeration did release a bunch of albums back in the day.
First the bio of the band, from Cuba:
Cuban experimental band founded in 1969 by Alfredo Guevara, president of the "Instituto Cubano del Arte e Industria Cinematográficos" (ICAIC) to experiment with new sounds different from the typical folklore sounds of previous Cuban music. It was directed by Leo Brouwer.
Members :
Daniel Aldama , Eduardo Ramos , Emiliano Salvador , Leo Brouwer , Leoginaldo Pimentel , Manuel Valera , Noel Nicola , Norberto Carrillo , Pablo Menendez , Pablo Milanes , Sara Gonzalez , Sergio Vitier , Silvio Rodriguez , Vicente Feliu.
The whole album posted on youtube here. The best track is b4's Grifo which unfort. you can't listen to on its own on that site, but it's a great little fusion instrumental that really hits all the marks for me.
Well, lo and behold the internet archive is back up, so let's try this:
They made more albums, a lot more actually, so I'll try to track those down and see if they're any good and report back about the issue.

No siempre todo tiempo pasado fué mejor, pero sin tener ayer tanta tecnología descubrimos mentes muy lúcidas que hicieron posible que hoy estemos disfrutando de su música. Gracias por difundirlo.
ReplyDeleteI have all of their output, also some alternate artwork never used, let me know where to send it, or if its ok to post it here
ReplyDeleteSome Remarks... Pablo Menendez is the son of american folk and jazz singer Barbara Dane,
ReplyDeleteLeo Brouwer is a classical guitar player and composer, who also has recorded a live album with Irakere, and more famous in the metal world, because the guitar intro that Randy plays on the track Diary of A Madman is one of his Estudios Sencillos
And two of their main composers and singers PAblo Milanes and Silvio Rodriguez, have had extensive careers as solo artistis.
furthermore as promised here are all 10 albums I have by this band, some are in flac (the ones that i own myself) and some on mp3 that I ve managed to find on the interwebs... missing are some B sides, Also added the first solo album by Sarah Gonzalez, were the full cast is also present.

ReplyDeletehope others notice it
I grew up with their music , saw them live a couple of times when I was a kid, and the two main singers and writers of most of the material used to live around the corner and their guitar player (The son of late blues/jazz singer Barbara Dane) is a good friend. So Yes, their music is part of my DNA....lol
