Obviously some very inventive and creative artwork with a high design variety, except the usual band posing very coolly photo with their decolletes. Databased
here.
I love when people recommend artists I had never heard of despite their being right up my alley. It's a nice dirty style of hard rock, grungy even, like old Deep Purple, but with original progressive touches, perhaps like Americans
Redbone a bit.
First track of Coming on Again (1971) is such a tour de force of hard prog rock:
This clearly was their masterpiece. Lovely name for a band, to boot.
And listen to the great riff on Sky Balloon:

Thanks Julian, Gold Medallions from the LP Allright On The Night got a lot of airplay around here in those days. Kind of a mellow tune for them.
ReplyDeleteHi Dear Julian,
ReplyDeleteSuch a fantastic post!
This band must to be in the Record Collector's Dreams Books by Hans Pokora.
I don't have the complete collection.
A very good band from Norway that has some similarities in comparison with Tucky Buzzard. In this case, the first album from 1971 that presents a suite (more than 25 minutes) in the final: https://williesaid.blogspot.com/search/label/Junipher%20Greene
The album "Friendship" is included in the Record Collector's Dream Vol.1.
The value of the vinyl: 4 -> Congratulations, You Own a True Rarity.
Yours sincerely,
Flávio
Well bless my old prog bones - we have a real pleasant surprise here!
ReplyDeleteHard to believe this righteousness was off my radar until now :)
Love that gritty 70s hard rockin with talent & style proto-prog ,
and this is early too, 70-71, they were blazin trails as much as any contemporaries like some of my faves: the mighty Zep/ozzy Black Sabbath/Blue Oyster Cult circa 1st kick-ass Lp with Workshop Of The Telescopes & Screams/Deep Purple circa my fave The Book Of Taliesyn ...Listen, Learn, Read On & The Shield!!! ohhh yeahhhhhh!
The Buzzard here have that rock edge with a very talented undercurrent of finesse and nice little unexpected touches....sweet piano mini-interlude here, tasty bongos there - great changes all over the place!
....this is serious midnight toker material ;)
love Time Will Be Your Doctor & Coming On Again, both from 1971....their acoustic guitar and orchestra duets are excellent,
like in 'Over The Hill - Coming On Again'.....real sweet
as is 'You're All Alone' .......yeah and that 14 min title track-Coming On Again is a monster!!
Another outstanding unexpected surprise :)
Thank You Captain!!!!
:) cheers bro :)
Hi Dear Julian,
ReplyDeleteGreat band, especially on the two first albums.
