Trubrot's Mandala from 1972, plus their others

\

In 1972 came their masterpiece which I had neglected because I was so disappointed with their earlier psych stuff. Particularly remarkable are the Beatles-style three and four part harmony vocals, never an easy task for anyone, but they make it seem so perfectly rounded and smooth as evidenced by the first and title track, complete with Eastern religious underpinnings:

I love the chromatic changes in the chords for the chorus, so wonderfully effective when combined with the Mandala theme.

The deep emotional resonance and Beatles-like sound continue on the song called Drifting, with the classic distorted harmony vocals it recalls the John Lennon song I'm Only Sleeping about drug use:

Really the songwriting is just so strong from beginning to end, tragic this album isn't better known out there among the rock fans, progressive or not.

Discography here.  Listening to the early material it's quite noticeable how much those harmony vocals improved over the few short years of the existence of this band.

  3. Aye sailing these dark and stormy seas, just when the jaded old prohead begins to think they've heard all the really good Lps,
the good Captain Julian drops a hidden prog-gem on us to shake up all stale headgear! Wow!! What a fantastic surprise!
Though familiar with the band, I too never knew their masterpiece was eluding me! Total Love at first listen :)
Like The Magical Mystery Tour joined S.F Sorrow and took off with the Moody Blues into a Threshold of a Dream....
The title-track is outta sight and sets the scene for a wonderful little mind odyssey we're lucky to share in .....I hear these lyrics from the 2nd track,
"we've been going for a ride on the magic planet,
smoke a pipe and drink a little wine...." ....I'm in bros ;)
top notch harmonies that are a healing balm in this dark night of the soul
I had to listen to the song 'Drifting' like three times before I continued,
that one and 'Today' demanded some Gandalf smoke-rings of pure appreciation......reminds one of the golden moments,
    good to remember....
They really put a lot of love and creative time and effort into each track and it shines through to the listener.....little Mr. Moonshine....far out goodness :)
like that sax-solo & harmonies at the end of 'All I wanna Do'
Gratitude my brothers. Thank You & Thank You Julian
    I needed this :)

the Great Pumpkin meant to have a couple old October Country halloween mixes to share, but its been stormy seas.....maybe we'll see what the spirits pull up....
Thanks again bro for all the generous musical gifts
