Sunrise, USA 1977

A really lovely happy cover like that, has to be promising... & indeed we have that wonderful warm 'n' funky AOR pop-rock sound, heated up by the addition of a bit of slapped bass rhythm, the electric keyboards, the three-part harmony vocals usually in triads, plus some exciting fusion.  Will the US wonders never cease?  Very similar to so many others I've 'discovered' (thanks to my lookout friends) and posted such as our favourite Baby Grand, the amazing tax scam band Sunshine, What's it To Ya, etc., etc.

Fusion fans will really dig the instrumental excitement on the wonderful astronomy of Saturn Rain:

The fast guitar riffs augmented by classical fugue-like patterns or chords plus that mix of sounds with adept use of synths, keys (the harpsichord sound), etc.  is so classically 70s, isn't it?

From recorddigger via rym:

Sprightly Late 70's Pop Rock Obscurity
Obscure late 70’s pop rock outfit led by keyboardist Domenic Cicchetti.  This was Cicchetti’s first project – he would eventually keep working in the field branching out into other areas such as being a “musical instrument product specialist”.  Sunrise is a melodic set of warm 70’s pop rock full of energetic twists and turns. The uplifting catchy chorus “Can You Find Some Time For Me” is the foundation of the standout power pop rocker ‘Find Some Time’. The foursome rocks out on ‘Found My Love’ and adds some progressive spice.

Some more info here.  And Domenic Cicchetti here.

A not mentioned but better example of all of the above verbiage can be found on their Sunrise Scherzo:

Thanks to all those who help me to discover and bring to light these lost works from deep in the ground...

  2. Thanks Julian. They remind me of Fotomaker or the German band Lake.

  3. Wow!!! And they just keep materializing right before our very eyes -
these sweet Lps, beautiful relics from that mysterious enigma:
the rare and wonderful majestic 70s US prog/fusion/??? "Mystery Band" !!!
...I suspect a group a time-travelers are behind it - like they just recorded this last week and had it sent forward to us in our time!! ;) :) :) yep...
And we know it's them by their complex creativeness and fucking awesome album covers!!! compare this one to Flight's 'Incredible Journey' - hot dam! they had/do have! ;) a complete madman genius painter in their routine - such treasures, you not only got great music but great artwork as well...sure glad these 'snapshots' of happier days got recorded because no matter how much retro gear you got nowadays, ya just can't match that creative joyful expression of the simple exhilarating enjoyment of being that these cats lay down!!!
Really reminds me of a cross between Flight (slowed down! ha!) and Surprise (Assault On Merryland masterpiece Lp - do got that one on super coveted rare cd release!), with touches of the group Fantasy dashed in....or wait was that Albatross?...or Another Roadside Attraction?...or Ethos?....Robert Connolly's epic 'Plateau'???
(another proghead spins off into prog oblivion! Ohhh sweet oblivion!!!!)
Thank You progmaster Julian, I believe a 2nd hearing of this Lp is in order with the right accomplices to enhance the experience :) :) :)
