Marc Winokur's Jesus Christ Super Stoned by request





And the year end award for best album title for sure, followed by the award for silliest artist photo on the back with the 18th century sailor outfit, goes to this requested album whose information can be found here in the database.  He made two records in the early 70s, this being the latter.  It's basically acoustic folk with some-- my apologies for saying it-- perhaps juvenile tendencies, not an uncommon aspect of these drug-powered and themed LPs.

    Saw this weirdo listed years ago in a rare vinyl catalog, where it was selling at $400.00(!). I became curious between the great Lp title and the raving review: "out of his mind trippy folk with downer vibes too...druggy guitar folk with crazed lyrics"... and high price...well I have to say, though an amusing listen and may improve with increased alcohol/drug intake, I would be a bit feeling a bit short-handed if I payed anywhere that much for this DIYer. ...umm 'out of his mind' & 'crazed lyrics' ? No. ...maybe that cat was reviewing the wrong record!

      I hate when those record sellers over-rave on these rarities and take us for suckers always with the same descriptors too like psychy stoned loner folk, etc. -- and then we can hear it all for free, like on youtube so much rare sh++ is posted I'm just shocked

    I recently discovered David Peel's American Revolution etc. - I see some parallels here. (Peel was better though :))

    David Peel is def a valid comparison! (the pope smokes dope!) :) nice :) Hey just wanted to say, upon further spins I'm liking this one more and more.....after one gets over expectations and just listens...hidden charms are revealed ;) (sure keep smokin kid!) :) :)
